This is the guy who already have a ticket to the World Championships in Antwerp this year. Japanese officials want Kohei to take things nice and slow since he’s still recovering from injury… But then Superman does this shit on high bar. Just win everything already! We get it, you’re not giving up your throne yet. (Not really complaining. ^o^)

If you’re a fan of other guy gymnasts, don’t watch this guy too much. He’ll make your idol’s gymnastics look clumsy.

Just a feeling

Why do I have this feeling that Ryohei Kato will be the next Kohei Uchimura? Kohei keeps on mentioning his kouhai’s potential on interviews.

When I see men gymnasts do the Dragulescu vault…

… most of the time, I’m like  ヘ(。□°)ヘ.

Why? Why? Why? I feel like that vault only looks right, and of course epic sauce, when Marian does it.

Watching the London 2012 UB EF again…

I can’t get over how cute He Kexin looked. Her black leo, that pink bow in her hair — she’s really pretty that night.

I believe in the fact that anyone who works the hardest in the world, will be the best in the world.

When people say that Cheng Fei and McKayla Marooney has a lot in common…

… I am like ∑(O_O;). Are you guys serious?

I don’t think there’s a lot of things they have in common imo. Sure, both of them didn’t win the Olympic gold on vault, but that’s it.

  1. Fei carried a lot of pressure on her shoulders. She was the leader of the Chinese WAG team back in 2008. She was put in a position where she can’t afford any mistake. Her FX TF was an emotional moment in gymnastics because, finally, the weight was lifted off her. So before, anyone says I’m extremely biased, please take note that I’m not Chinese. (^^)v.
Marooney, oth, only contributed in one apparatus. She just needed to be great on the vault. That’s it. Well, good for McKayla.
  2. Fei was a vault world champ for three consecutive years. She dominated 2005-2007 while winning FX EF on the side. McKayla, err, not yet. Don’t kill me, but I don’t see McKayla achieving this feat with all her tour injuries. So, good luck to her.
  3. Fei was a great vaulter, great floor specialist and a great beam worker. Yeah, she had medaled in those events. During Beijing 2008, Fei contributed a lot to the team. Underscore A LOT. She’s not a “one trick” gymnast like McKayla.
  4. When people say that the US WAG team was lucky to have McKayla, that it was thanks to her great vaulting that the USA won gold, I think that the gods must’ve blessed the Chinese back in 2008 for having the great Cheng Fei. I mean, come on guys, it’s not like McKayla is the only gymnast from the US with the amanar. Again, she only contributed in one event. >.<

starkofwinterfell:

obviously they are still the best in their country if they made it onto another olympic team.

the olympics aren’t about giving everyone and their brother a shot at competing. the olympics are about the best of the best from each country representing their nations.

none of the 08 gymnasts from the US team made it onto the 2012 team, because none of them (save for alicia, who there just wasn’t room for sadly) were the best in the country/good enough to make this olympic team.

yet what gives you the right to make sweeping generalizations like these? are you really gonna tell me ksenia afanasyeva, the 2011 WORLD CHAMPION on floor, 2010 world gold medalist, and 2009 european silver AA medalist didn’t deserve her spot on the russian olympic team because she already had her shot in 08 and should have given someone else a shot?

are you really gonna tell me deng linlin, 2012 olympic gold medalist on beam and 2009 world gold medalist on beam/2010 silver medalist on beam, did not deserve her spot on the chinese olympic team this year because she was part of the 08 team?

what about gymnasts like oksana chusovitina, lauren mitchell, catalina fuckin’ ponor, sandra izbasa, and vanessa ferrari? these gymnasts are some of THE best gymnasts in the world and from their respective countries who have led teams of newer girls into the olympic arena. chuso is a living legend, lauren was australia’s best medal hope, cata and sandra led their team to a bronze while collecting silver and gold individually, and vanessa ferrari would have won italy’s first olympic WAG medal in awhile (ever? I’m not sure) had it not been for the tiebreaker.

but of course, these phenomenal athletes don’t deserve to be at a second, third, even sixth in chuso’s case, olympics because they’ve had their shot and “aren’t the best in their country”.

this confession is complete bullshit. if a past olympian gets a free ride to the olympics over someone more talented and deserving, then yes, that’s wrong. but literally every single returning olympian I can think of has stepped up as a team leader and is one of the best, if not THE best, in their country.

gymnastics is no longer a sport for fifteen year old girls who have to retire when they’re 18. gymnasts like chuso, asac, izbasa, ponor, dos santos, hypolito, mitchell, khorkina, millousi, and MANY others have proved that it’s not all about how old you are - it’s about your talent, drive, and desire to compete at the highest level in spite of all obstacles.

if you are a returning olympian, you damn well deserve to be there. that’s it.

AMEN… And gymnastics fans should bow down to the lady in the picture. She’s a living legend.

The first and only gymnast to ever win a whole quadrennium: Kohei Uchimura, unbeatable from 2009-2012.

Cheng Fei vs McKayla Maroney

To the people who asked me who is the better vault specialist, Fei Fei or McKayla:

I would say Cheng Fei. She’s a three time World Champion (2005-2007) on vault. Fei was a very consistent vaulter prior to being injured. She did vaults that only guys do in the past. Got a vault skill named after her. So yeah… She’s amazing! Cheng Fei all the way.

If McKayla can do half of what Fei did, then let’s talk. This is just my honest opinion. Anyway, Mckayla is still young. She still got a lot of time to achieve greater things.

I finally found Koko Tsurumi’s 2008 floor music. I instantly fell in love with the song when I heard it play in the background during Jiang Yuyuan’s (CHN) beam routine in 2008 Olympics WAG AA final. {x.x}
